Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New Building

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Kampala

President Yoweri Museveni officiated at the opening of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs new headquarters building in September, 2004. He thanked the Chinese Government and people for the support and solidarity extended to Uganda.

The Minister of State for International Affairs and holding the portfolio of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Tom Butime, pointed out that the building is a symbol of the enduring friendship and solidarity betwen China and Uganda. He thanked the Chinese government and people for making it possible for the Ministry to get a new home.

The Assistant Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Lu Guozeng handed over the building that cost U$ 6.5 million to President Museveni. He noted that the project clearly demonstrated the good relations between China and Uganda.

The new headquarters is a six-storey magnificent building with good facilities which will provide a conducive atmosphere for foreign policy work. The building has nine committee rooms, four
VIP lounges, and a Conference Hall among other facilities. Uganda Government contributed US$ 1.2 million to the construction of the buliding.
