Uganda Celebrates 41 Years of Independence
We celebrated the 41st Anniversary of Uganda’s
Independence on October 09, 2003. This day serves to mark the culmination
in victory of the struggle by Ugandan patriots and freedom fighters
against colonialism.
Since attaining independence on October 09, 1962
Uganda has made remarkable progress although we experienced traumatic
setbacks as a result of disruptions by misguided policies on the
part of the bad regimes.
Fortunately, this sad chapter is now history, because
the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Government has propelled
the country to great heights in terms of political, economic, and
social achievements. We therefore have reason to celebrate this
anniversary with pride.
Uganda has risen from the ruins of the dictatorial
regimes to become one of the most vibrant economies in sub-Saharan
Africa with economic growth rates averaging 5 - 7% for over a decade.
