UIA Licenses $178m
The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) has licensed
49 projects worth US$178,646,826 in the first quarter of this financial
year 2003/2004.
According to the UIA quarterly report eleased on
October 10, 2003, Kenya is the leading country in terms of the financial
worthiness of their projects, with a total of $113.6 million followed
by Uganda with a total of US$34.4 million and China with US$14,6.6
million.
Some of the top investors come from countries such
as India with $4.1 million, Australia at $2.5m, $1.7m from the US,
$1.5m from South Africa, $1.2m from Rwanda and the UK with 0.4 to
be invested.
The projects are expected to create employment for 8,559 people.
