President Museveni Attends Summit on DRC

At the invitation of President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa, Presidents Yoweri K. Museveni of Uganda, Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, and Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) attended a Summit on DRC in Capetown, April 9-10, 2003.

The Summit agreed on a new initiative for the Pacification of the Ituri region in the DRC entailing total withdrawal of foreign troops, the immediate deployment of a United Nations Monitoring Force and the establishment of effective administration by the government of the DRC.
