Uganda Hosts CPA Conference (Africa Region)

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference was held in Kampala August 2-10,2002.It was opened by President Yoweri Museveni on August 05,2002 and was attended by over 100 delegates from 19 African Commonwealth member countries.
The participants were from Ghana, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, the Gambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Cameroon, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Nigeria, Seychelles, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Uganda last hosted the 13th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in 1967.

CPA fosters a sense of fellowship, belonging and community among parliamentarians.

Furthermore, the association aims at strengthening Parliament and improving its members' performance. The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Hon. Edward Ssekandi, hosted it.
