President Museveni in Egypt.

President Museveni paid an official working visit to Egypt from May 29 - June 2, 2002.

During his stay in Egypt, he held talks with the Egyptian President H.E. Hosni Mubarak. The talks centred on bilateral, regional, and international issues. The President met several Egyptian investors and businessmen, and delivered a Keynote Address on "Conflicts in Africa, their Causes and Recommended Solutions" at Cairo University’s Institute for AfricanStudies and Research.

He pointed out that the only viable solution for the elimination of conflicts in Africa is for the State to deliberately embark on the transformation process of the hitherto pre-industrial societies to build a middle class.

Prof. Nagid el Helali, the President of Cairo University, called for the strengthening of ties between Uganda and Egypt, and the linking up of Cairo University with Ugandan Universities.
