H.E. Francis Butagira accompanied by Mrs. S. Musisi-Mwanje, Counsellor, visited large scale farmers and met businessmen in Eastern Province in late March, 2002.

The High Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the Provincial Commissioner (PC), Mrs. Philomena Koech. The High Commissioner also visited Machakos District where he was received by the District Commissioner Mrs. A.R. Ng’eticha. He then touredseveral farms and met with businessmen of Machakos Chamber of Commerce and Industry whom he encouraged to visit their counterparts in Uganda to explore the regional markets. He also toured the
following places:

on drought resistant seeds is carried out

Kenya Wine Agency Vine Yard at
Yatta where the delegation was informed
that about 8 tonnes were harvested perday from 40 acres of land.

Other farms visited included, Home
Grown Co. Ltd, and Batian Flowers.

The High Commissioner concluded his tour of Eastern Province by paying a courtesy call on the Mayor of Machakos, Mr. Donald Mutua. He extended an invitation to the Mayor
